Our Story

Why Mae Foundation for Freedom Was Created

Mae Foundation for Freedom was not created from a business plan.
It was created from survival.

After surviving 17 years of abuse, I learned something heartbreaking, many survivors do not stay because they want to. They stay because they financially cannot leave.

I know what it feels like to be isolated, terrified, emotionally broken, and trying to protect your children while your body slowly gives out from the stress and trauma. I know what it feels like to have your finances controlled, your confidence destroyed, and your world made so small that freedom feels impossible.

When I finally found the strength to leave, I realized how many barriers survivors face:

  • No money for gas
  • No money for a hotel
  • No money for legal help
  • No safe place to go
  • No immediate support when every second matters

I was one of the lucky ones. I had family who helped me survive.

So many women do not.

That reality stayed with me long after I escaped. I could not stop thinking about the survivors still trapped because they simply could not afford freedom.

That is why Mae Foundation for Freedom was born.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to bridging the gap in domestic violence resources by helping survivors with emergency financial assistance, legal support, safety resources, and immediate help during the most dangerous moments of their lives.

Every item purchased from our shop directly supports that mission.

This is more than merchandise.
This is hope.
This is survival.
This is a second chance for someone trying to escape abuse safely.

When you shop with Mae Foundation for Freedom, you are standing beside survivors and helping them take their first steps toward freedom.

Together, we can help more survivors get out safely.
Together, we can break the cycle.
Together, we rise. 💜
